48 Pieces of Wisdom I’ve Picked Up in My 48 Years on This Planet – The List

48 Pieces of Wisdom I’ve Picked Up in My 48 Years on This Planet – The List

I started out writing this list in the form of blog posts (you can see my latest one HERE) however, the inspiration to keep doing so has left the building…just wasn’t feeling it, but I had a lot of fun compiling this list in lieu of the blogs… I hope you like it! In no particular order….. The List Fear and worry will never change the outcome so save your energy for focusing on the things you can control. Acceptance of the things we can’t change is the fastest way to peace. Fear driven decisions will keep you playing small. When you fully commit to your decision to succeed no matter what you’re activating a powerful force that will rise up to support you. No-one gives a crap about how big your ass looks in that skirt other than you. There is ALWAYS a breakthrough after the breakdown…the suckier the struggle the better the breakthrough..so hang in there xox If you’re worried about being “too visible” by default you never will be, your internal guidance system won’t let you. Other people’s opinion of our awesomeness is far more accurate than our own…we suck knowing how amazing we truly are. Choose your battles when it comes to parenting teens….you don’t want to alienate them because they feel as though they’re always screwing up…open communication is your best friend when it comes to parenting teens and constant nagging shuts that down in a heartbeat. Still on parenting….Even though you think that every piece of advice you’ve ever given your kids has gone through one ear and out the other know that...

YOU’RE NEVER “READY” TO TAKE A LEAP FOR THE NEXT LEVEL So what’s the deal with you playing small? Why aren’t you fully IN THE GAME? What’s the STORY you’re telling yourself about why you can’t go ALL IN? When I ask these question’s of my clients predictably the answers contain some version of the same theme. FEAR. Fear has many guises but the one I want to tackle today is the fear of not being “ready”. If you aren’t prepared to begin where you stand with the resources you have access to RIGHT NOW you’re likely to be telling yourself you need to wait for something…more time, more money, more experience, more followers, more….insert your own special kind of procrastination. Here’s the thing I’ve learned over and over and over again. You’re never, EVER going to feel ready to take the next leap. If you feel ready I promise you the moment you should have acted has passed. The only time is now so now is the time to act. Discomfort and uncertainty are a part of the entrepreneurial roller-coaster unless you’re playing it safe and even then the writing’s on the wall….playing it safe for too long leads to it’s own special hell. So embrace your fear and see it for what it is. Think of it like this….. Imagine you’re about to jump off a 10 metre high diving board headfirst into the water below. You REALLY want to jump…you’ve been there in your mind SO many times….you know how amazing it’s going to feel once you’ve done it. But on the ledge…before the jump, you...

ALIGNMENT FIRST EVERYTHING ELSE SECOND Alignment is all about energy… It’s about being an energetic match for the things we desire in our lives and that once we are aligned we find ourselves in that wonderful state called flow. Flow is that place where the path towards your goals feels easy, you can almost feel the universe lining up things in your favour, urging you on. These days I spend most of my time in this state because over the years I’ve build a nice, strong alignment muscle….I simply know what I need to do to get myself back to that place if I move out of it. I also pick up that I’m out of alignment fast these days because I’m super aware of that that feels like. When things start to feel like a drag or are just plain old hard work this is a sign you’re out of flow and out of alignment. When in flow things seem effortless. The key here is to fully understand that this place of flow is how it’s supposed to be….the struggle and frustration you feel is NOT how it’s supposed to feel. So it’s actually pretty easy to determine if you’re in this state or not…do things feel easy and effortless most of the time where challenges are easily overcome without drama? If so you’re in flow. Has everything turned to shit and it doesn’t matter which way you turn you keep running into problems? THAT is the opposite of flow and a sign you have an alignment issue. This means there is an underlying reason holding you back….there...
How I Took Control Of My Life And Fell In LOVE With Learning

How I Took Control Of My Life And Fell In LOVE With Learning

This evening’s back deck / bubbles listening pleasure  is the ELECTRONIC full album, I wore this cassette tape out from listening to it back in 91 / 92. This album always reminds me of flying..I was learning to fly at Tooradin Airport (and for a time lived at the airport sharing a house and working in the crayfish shop (had perks!) on Sundays to pay for my lessons) while I was also working long and many shifts at the pub. I was also going to TAFE full-time to remedy my lack of education (I left high school at 14). TAFE was an hour from home for most of my year there and often I would drive from Korumburra to Tooradin, have a flying lesson on the way and then continue on to school in Frankston to TAFE for the day, I’d drive home and then head to another shift at the pub. Head down bum up…I was on a mission. Not much has changed about the way I roll  That was a time when I really learned what I was capable of..I pushed through SOOO much fear, doubt, insecurity, logistics and plain old exhaustion! I hadn’t been to school for 7 years by the time I went to TAFE and I was worried I’d fail and have no idea what was going on (having no idea pretty much turned out to be the case!!). Flying required exams… again, I was worried I’d be able to master the principals of flight (#mathshell) and just didn’t think I had it in me. I managed to kill two birds with one stone…at TAFE I...

48 Pieces of Wisdom I’ve Picked Up in My 48 Years on This Planet – Number 2

WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK DOESN’T MATTER Seriously, if I could have one super-power it would be to render humans immune to the effects of the opinions of others. There’s a whole gamut of reasons people hold themselves back from true and lasting success but worrying about what everyone and anyone else thinks sits high at the top of the list. From an early age we’re conditioned to seek the approval of others but as adults we get to say screw that and go about the fabulous business of pleasing OURSELVES. But we don’t and the hangover of a life of seeking approval (no matter how subtle) continues to have an impact on us everyday. Think about the last 3 big decisions you’ve had to make in your business over the past couple of weeks and I want you to ask yourself how much you let the influence of others opinions dampen your desire to do EXACTLY as you pleased. It creeps in and it shows up as fear or failure. I’ve had clients tell me many times “but what it if fails?” or “but what if I don’t get the numbers?” but what they’re really asking is “what if I do this and it fails and people see it?” or “what if I run this event and no-one wants to come, what will people think about me if I can’t fill an event?”. If you didn’t give a shit about what others thought and just went for it you wouldn’t even be considering that “what if’s”, you’d have your eye on the ball and you’d be focusing on the...
