Doing Success YOUR way?

Doing Success YOUR way?

My gut has served me well in life. When I trust my instincts things usually go to plan. When I don’t things almost always unravel the way my gut told me they would. My gut is my greatest business asset and I now give it the respect it’s due because it’s guided towards every single success I’m lucky enough to have experienced, often guiding me where my head tells me I shouldn’t. The last 2 years I’ve totally given over to it and let my gut rule every decision in my business and it was a wise move. My instincts are good. I back them 100% The only time things backfire is when I half-ass the leap and don’t give it my all, even when every instinct tells me I should. Essentially trusting my gut meant I did things MY way. I set out about building this brand without any “shoulds”, without any pre-conceived ideas of what was the done thing and I remained plugged in to my gut for the whole wild (and successful) ride that was 2015. And I’ve built a brand that is quintessentially ME. Now I want to encourage YOU to do the same. Convinced you need to follow some cookie cutter “recipe for success” in business? Well you don’t. Sure we know certain things work (for example the 3 part video lead magnet) and I’m not suggesting for a moment you shy away from doing what we know works, I’m just saying do it YOUR WAY and don’t compromise on that. The only way you will truly stand out from the crowd in your...
How to stop being an entrepreneur on the weekends

How to stop being an entrepreneur on the weekends

Weekends used to make me anxious. VERY anxious! During the week life had purpose, building my empire, training hard, taking care of my kids and running them around to after school activities, teaching classes. The weeks were a flurry of activity and it felt good. Busy was good. The weekends…not so good. I was waging this constant battle with myself that went something like this. You are NOT going to work on the weekends, that is just too pathetic. But I don’t what else to DO with my time!! I don’t care, find something, ANYTHING because you are NOT working on the weekend. But I can’t think of a single thing to do!! Ok, I’ll hit the gym…AGAIN….my default. It was ridiculous and pretty pathetic but I honestly had zero idea about what to do with myself when I wasn’t working, taking care of my kids or in the gym. It was a very one dimensional life. But I didn’t give up seeking a life outside of my business because I knew I had to. I was becoming boring. I was becoming bored. And I knew it wasn’t healthy to work every waking hour. I began a list of things I could be interested in doing. It was hard going, my creative juices were NOT flowing…at all!! I lived in the Dandenong’s which, to be honest I loathed, I’m a beach girl and I was land locked from every side. But I decided I’d start to explore the area around me. My then husband and I were living very separate lives (which is obviously why I was in this...
A blog about blogging…

A blog about blogging…

Well I’m day 14 into my 30 day blogging challenge and here’s what’s shown up. My writing juices are flowing!! Lately it’s been like pulling teeth trying to think of new content, unusual for me but I got into a funk of thinking “it’s all been done before” so I was uninspired. Now I’m writing down ideas for upcoming posts in the middle of writing the one I’m working on! My whiteboard is a mass of ideas. It’s translated to my video blogs. I pulled the pin on my weekly video’s in Jan for the same reason as the above but now I’m rocking and rolling there too. I’m more compelled to write than video at the moment but I’m coming up with some great content for video’s and I have a few up my sleeve for the weeks ahead. It’s given me back structure. I had a little too much time on my hands and so my structure fell by the wayside. Now I have my writing routine to anchor my day I’m super productive and focused again (for example today I ran a webinar, wrote 2,500 words for my book and now this on top of recording 7 videos – ummmm Go Me!!). It prompted book no.4 I really started to crave the book writing process and while I had the beginning of 2 books (each around 4,000 words)  in my writing software  I wasn’t “feel’n it”. All of a sudden I was ready. I did a podcast interview on Monday that had me telling myself “get this stuff in a book dammit” and because I already...
Feeling like a looser in business? I’ve been there and this is how I turned it around.

Feeling like a looser in business? I’ve been there and this is how I turned it around.

You know those days when everything you touch turns to gold? Content pours out of you. You nailed that social media post and it’s getting a LOT of attention..the right kind. The days coaching sessions remind you that this is EXACTLY what you should be doing with your life, you see it in the changes your clients are making. That article you submitted was picked up by Huffington. The leads are pouring in. Your bank balance looks healthy. Life is freaking amazing and you feel invincible. And then the tide starts to turn. A bad dose of writers block. You lose a client through no fault of your own because she lost her job and she needs to watch her finances. And then you lose another one. Your Huffington Post article is rejected. And you think this all means something. You think this means “the slide has begun” and you can’t stop it You were waiting for this to happen. Things were going too well. You should have done more, you should have paid more attention, you shouldn’t have taken those days off shopping up a storm. You should have been more careful. You simply should have been MORE. You beat yourself up You crawl into a cave. And you don’t want to come up. EVER! You don’t need this crap! Life would be SO MUCH easier if you just had a JOB!! What the HELL were you thinking believing for even a second this would succeed? I mean who the hell did you think you WERE?? Before you know it fear and misery are your constant companions and...
